Hýsly lies five kilometres north-east of Kyjov. In 2025, the municipality had 410 residents.

The municipal office is in a former school dating from 1902, which also houses a library, gym and cultural room. The Chapel of St Procopius was built in 1936 on the site of an old wooden bell tower.
