Milotice lies six kilometres south of Kyjov. In 2025, the municipality had a population of 1,910. The Písečný rybník nature reserve lies to the north-east of the municipality, while the Horky nature reserve is in its south-western part.

The first written record of Milotice dates to 1341. The State Chateau Milotice is a Baroque complex of buildings and gardens, which Karel Antonín Serényi had built between 1719 and 1743. All Saints' Church was built between 1697 and 1701, and a wall with Baroque statues was built around it in 1702–1703. The Šidleny wine-cellar area contains about 200 cellars, the oldest dating from 1770.
