Vracov lies eight kilometres south-east of Kyjov. It has held town status since 1967. In 2025, it had a population of 4,496.

The first written reference to a settlement on the site of present-day Vracov dates from 1201. The Church of St Lawrence is an early Gothic building, and its presbytery, dating from 1240, survives in its original state. The town hall, built between 1948 and 1950, is decorated above the balcony with a sgraffito by painter Rudolf Gajdoš. Vracov lies on the northern edge of Doubrava Forest, known as the Moravian Sahara, and the Vracovský potok stream runs through the town.
