Vlkoš lies 4 km south-east of Kyjov in the district of Hodonín. In 2025, it had approximately a thousand residents. The village has had a railway station on line 340 since 1884.

The earliest written record of Vlkoš is a document drawn up in Čejkovice on 18 October 1248. The Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on a small hill in the centre of the village, with statues of Saints Cyril and Methodius in front of the entrance. The Military Museum of General Sergěj Jan Ingr, who was born in Vlkoš, was established in the village in 2007. The local primary school and nursery school were named after MUDr. K. A. Macháček in 2016, and the municipality makes the Liďák premises available for cultural and educational events.
